A 45 yr old woman, 24 hrs post cholesystectomy develops fever and dyspnea. PE decreased percussion, increased tactile fremitus, and decreased breath sounds in the right lower lobe. The diaphragm is elevated and there is inspiratory lag on the right side. the patient most likely has

a. atelectasis
b.lung abcess
c.bronchopneumonia
d. pulmonary infarction
e. spontaneous pneumothorax

? A. Acute massive atelectasis secondary to her upper abdominal surgery...raised eyebrow

decrease percusion,,decrease sounds,,, diaghragm elevated----i would go fr A . too

would you hear increased breath sounds in bronchopneumonia?

for pneumonia wth consolidation, its characteristically 'bronchial breath sounds'...
