40-year old woman with a history of alcoholism has severe epigastric pain that radiates to the back. She denies recent drinking, however. The pain is accompanied by nausea and vomiting. On physical examination, there is marked epigastric tenderness and fever. Serum amylase is elevated. Which of the following has been implicated in the etiology of this patient’s condition?

A. Helicobacter pylori

B. Hepatitis B virus

acute pancreatitis?
after alcohol...and gall stones....the etiology hypovolemia??

i guess its not hypovolemia(i had put tht down before)......then i'll try with hyperlipoproteinemia...

yes why?
usually acute pancreatitis starts with an insult...
ther is no such history plus the cause of acute pancreatitis in alcoholism isnt because of hyperlipoproteinemia...otherwise every person with hyperlipoproteinemia with a LOT more than type IV acquired VLDL incrase should have it...
in alcoholism...the thickened secretions of pancreatic fluid forming plugs is implicated as the causative reason but this doesnt give the particular history...
