If a test Q says: Patient is blind in the "LEFT VISUAL FIELD" and ask you to locate the lesion, does this mean he is blind in his left eye, or does it mean that he is blind in the left half of both eyes?

-Also where would the lesion be?

Yes, you are right.
Left visual field is Left half of both eyes.

wouldn't it be otherwise? right half of both eyes? lesion in right visual tract?

  #5

"Visual" field indicates the vision, not the location on retina.....So a left visual field defect is being blind in the left "visual zone" of both eyes, and the location on "retina" is on right half in both eyes. and yea, those fibres do run in the right optic tract.

How would they ask the question if the patient was blind in only the Left eye? Would they just say that? Or could they alternatively say "patient is blind in both visual fields in the left eye"?

If blind in left eye, they shd ideally just say that 'blind in left eye'! Left eye Anopsia is anthr idea. "patient blind in both visual fields in the left eye' ..i hvnt come across tht, yet!!

Sometimes is more practical to say nasal, temporal, binasal, bitemporal visual fields.
