How does high PH in different areas of body favour pathological organsims growth?

As far as I know, the majority of microorganisms don't like low pH. They prefer neutral or slightly alkaline environment. That is why most of bacteria from food are killed in the stomach (because of low pH due to gastric HCl) and low vaginal pH due to Lactobacillus activity prevents vaginal infections.

Urinary tract infections typically show an elevated pH. The really "stinky" urines usually have an 8.5 or 9.0 pH on Urinalysis, along with other typical findings of positive nitrite, elevated leukocyte esterase, and lots of WBC's in the microscopic, along with bacteria.
