Hi Guys -

I know that we all consider Goljan the guru for path...I have read his notes and listened to the lectures. And they are great! But recently, I picked up a book that was collecting dust on my bookshelf: The Pocket Companion to Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease. Why didn't I read this sooner?!

It's concise, yet it's comprehensive - hitting on all the important stuff that you will come across in QBank. It's laid out just like Goljan (I'm sure he based his notes on the big textbook version of this little companion book). But it's not in bullet point, and clearly written - so at times, it's easier to understand than Goljan. It's short and sweet - and easily available at the book store too...(7th edition coming out soon, I have the 6th).

In any event - it's a matter of preference. Just thought I share...

Good Luck!

1)Goljan is not my guru, but he is a guru for certain individuals. {Dont get me wrong Im not knocking him}. I just think you'd get more out of the baby Robbins not the pocket Robbins.

guru = just an expression

baby robbins = pocket companion (for me at least) ----> i'm certain that the textbook comes with a study guide or something with questions and such, that's probably an excellent resource.

the pocket comapnion is good for those of you who really need to brush up on information - fill in the blanks when you keep getting a question wrong in a particular area.

again, it's preference.

As I understand it Robins has 2 separate texts + the pocket book.

mjl1717, can you please tell why you prefer Robbins over Goljan? Have read/seen Goljan Patho? Heard his lectures?

well, I will go with Goljan, bcz he himself said that, it took him 25 yrs to collect all these notes, so definitly their must be some thing good in it, and its all about every thing except BS, so you can have all in ONE, isn't that amazing, n he also refer big robbin's figures for his notes, so it means he took important HY points from robbins and collect it for us, so that we just read his notes n not waste our time in reading the whole book, n elaborating the HY stuff, bcz he said that, not to highlight his notes, bcz its all high yeild n you gotta need a paint brush to highlight it.
