Just feeling stupid, refused a pre-match from my 4 th choice programme,am left with three more inrerviews at university programmes and even though none of them offer prematches am not sure if they will rank me!!!,its just the jitters u feel when u refuse a prematch. I have already declined 3 more prematches so dont know if they will rank me,so basically am left with 4 programmes to rank given the fact that those which offered prematch will not rank me(one of them will not for sure!!) Hum if these programmes have ben silent without prematch offers i probably wud have had more options ,not sure what wud happen!!will i end up unmatched!!!HUM. GOD KNOWS!!am in such a low mood . just wanted to share and vent out my frustration, sorry guyz.

the university programs might still rank you high..If you think your 4th choice hospital is good, but not very academic ( i mean a strong community program), then reconsider and maybe accept the prematch,.call the PC and see if that works out..the race is too hot this year to blow away some "certain" opportunities...

Everything about the match is good except the uncertainity. If I were in your place, I would accept a prematch if I got an offer from one of my top 3 choices. Although I know you are a very strong candidate, a bird in hand is still better than two in the bush !! In fact I have accepted my second choice program's prematch offer. But there is no perfect answer to this dilemma, i guess do what satisfies you.

Hey Katzung, I've turned down 3 prematches like you did and now I find out the hospitals don't have many spots left for match. I am not sure if i'd goto my first choice (near home) for which I turned down the prematch. I feel low as well but it's for family's sake. There's no best choice for us IMGs with family to take into consideration. Sometimes I think I am too greedy to hope to go for the best hospital. For IMGs just go to any hospital would be good enough.

Katzung, be careful mate, otherwise you will end up in UK=no match. I would accept any prematch. First came first served. Do not forget that you are a guest here in US. IMG=guest , so do not be so arrogant, otherwise God will punish you. Tocket

Katzung my friend, I was in your situation. I was considering accepting a prematch offer from the program I would have put 4th on my ROL. I had made up my mind to go to the match unless I had an offer from my top 3 programs. I did not want to get into an agreement I would regret later on. I have now accepted an offer at my top program. It feels that you will have less programs ranking you after you turn down a number of prematches. But it only takes one to do it for you. I think with the number of prematches you have, you are bound to be ranked at a place of your liking, but it wont hurt discussing out of match options at the programs you really want to go to. You can check whether they have given prematches last year from the number of positions they had in FREIDA and their match quota HERE .
