i was listen to kaplan lectures and was not able to understand the concept of ionized verses unionized amino acid with a weak acidic / weak basic drug .......... can any one help me

ok the lecture says that COO- & NH3+ are the ionized formes and COOH/NH2 are the unionized ???????
