good points!! my 2 cents.. Anorexia- the issue is a lack of control, usually difficult relationship with controlling mom(some cases mom herself ws an anorexic), an above average scholastic performance, dental caries(in some cuz they consider toothpaste also as food). a more dangerous condition. Bulimia- issue of battling Id and superego....they binge when Id has a say and purge to pacify teh superego. dental caries.

also generally, anorexics hv a very low BMI whereas bulimics tend to be overweight.

Ok, the following fit which one? A mother brings her 14-year-old daughter to the physician with the concern that she “just doesn’t seem to have much interest in anything.” The girl is 165 cm (5 ft 5 in) tall and weighs 43.2 kg (95 lb). Enlargement of the parotid glands is noted, along with halitosis. Upon questioning, the girl confesses to binge and purge behavior, which she has carefully hidden from her parents. She reports feeling sad a lot of the time and that she just feels like she doesn’t fit in with her peers.

hey guys. you cant take these complete seperatly as diff entities. there is some thing called bulemic anorexia and abulemic anrexia. in bulemic anorexia they have binjing , halitosis , parotid swelling etc but main thing is here the body weight and body image perception.

hey tikka in bulimia girl will not be emaciated, they will be nearly normal weight, 2nd as the girl says she doesnt feel with peers, which shows she has distorted body image present, which is present in anorexia, and not bulemia

Good discussion everyone. I have an additional case: What if girl is binging and purging for a very long time, and she ends becoming underweight ONLY due to the purging long term. She does NOT starve herself. Now is she considered bulemic or anorexic? thanks.
