Put yourself into PD's shoes, you will understand why some of them do not respond.

Imagine on top of your clinical practice, you have to review over 1000 applications (each had ~ 10 documents) for just 10-15 spots. And you have to spend loads of time to arrange and conduct over 100 interviews. That is much more work load than each one of us endured. What they experienced is no better than us. In addition, do not forget, they are picking you; at the same time you are picking them. If there is a no show, do they have a forum among PDs to complain? LOL, that is not a professional behavior. Same here, I totally understand your frustration because we are in the same boat, and you have every right to complain. However, it is not a professional behavior. It will not solve the problem; on the contrary, it only increases your frustration and stress. No offense, but I feel you do not deserve an interview, because you are not mature enough to understand the situation and handle stress professionally, which are essential to successful residency trainings.

So, if they send me rejections, I appreciate their professionism; if not, I would try to call them and find out. Sometimes they got so frustrated (see? they got frustrated just as we do) that they refuse to pick up the phone, it is still totally understandable. Frustration is inevitable (I guess for most of us, does not matter how many interviews we have), but it is not worth our energy to nagging about it.

I totally sympathize BBB. As program coordinators, maybe they have some power to screen us, but what they have done is simply following the pre-set rules or following the orders from PDs. They are the ones that handle the "scutwork" of applications, however, they usually are the targets of frustration and complaints because they "did not do their job to pick up phones or answer our emails". Do they just sit there doing nothing, and still refuse to send a simple one-line rejection? I assume most of them are not because I trust most of them (except maybe a few bad apples) are professional and nice (as I have met during the interviews).

So, please try to understand and try to transform your energy into postitive behaviors. Positive consequences only come from positive attitude ... this is my belief.

Nothing personal and no offense to anyone at all.
