2-year-old child develops a localized cutaneous infection with phage group II Staphylococcus aureus. A rash resembling the rash of scarlet fever begins around the mouth, then spreads to the trunk and extremities. A few bullae develop, which burst, leaving denuded skin. At what level in the skin did these bullae most likely develop?

A. Across the basal cells

B. Below the basement membrane

C. Between the basal cells and the basement membrane

D. High in the epidermis

E. Just above the basal cells

what is the diagnosis plz along with the answer

Its D and it's a scalded skin syndrome,caused by phage 2 S.aureus

yes it is scalded skin syndrome and this happens high up in the epidermis

these skin blisters can occur anywhere from epidermis to dermis, the one caused by staph aureus occurs high up in the epidermis and it is good as it will heal easily

the rule is that lower down these blisters occur the worse the prognosis
