it leads to unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia and jaundice as well right.

i guess i was really trying to find out why Rh+ in child doesn't lead to jaundice, but ABO incompatibility does.

  #4

rh+ also causes it but to a less extent. and more causes renal pathos leading to hydrops

YOUR QUES IS--why Rh+ in child doesn't lead to jaundice, but ABO incompatibility does?

in Rh + HDN ----actually wht happen is... antibody attaches to RBC ag and splenic macrophage destroy it. so unconjugated bili relesed by macrophages. which MOTHER HANDLES.so LESS JAUNDICE BUT ITS PRESENT THERE

OKAYYY AS such abo incompatibility --preformed antibodies formed which causes extravascular hemolysis...--Leads to unconjugated bilirubinemia

PLZ CORRECT ME... i just guessed it all

according to goljan rapid review:

abo incompatibility is less severe (if fact protective against) than rh incompatibility. both have anemia and jaudice at birth (with 24hrs) as a result of extravascular hemolysis and both have anemia (less severe in abo) There is also an increased risk of kernicterus in rh incompatibility. Hope this helps.
