I might be able to pass step I of USMLE , but I think that I am still a stupid guy. I need someone to tell me what's up ? I finished my Step I with 75 and I am going to do my step II/CS this Feb. but there is nobody who is going to tell me what to do next? Simply I need to be a plastic surgon . Can I apply now? how to apply? residency or fellowship? and what is the difference between community hospital and non-community? If there is a good document with full details I will be glad to get it , and if there is anybody who can explain for me I will be really grateful . I have nobody to tell me...... I am stupid

After u appear for step 2cs ,appear for step 2ck(neednt be in that order ,U can appear for step 2ck before). If u are an IMG ,U need to send your credentials to b verified (by your med school, which u can do now itself if u have your diploma),coz it can take time. When u finish your exams AND your credentials are verified U get the ECFMG certificate. Plasti Surgery is a fellowship after 3 or 4 (not sure)of residency. university programs generally hve their fellowship and their own students.and comm programs may or may not have thier own fellowships ,but students from universities rotate through them.they dont have thier own students. for details of application process,u can see www.aamc.org/eras site Everybody has doubts ,thats why there is such a forum, dont consider yourself stupid.

Thanks a lot for your kind reply CHAND.... I already sent my credentials and they verified it with my medical school. I am intending to do step II CK after I come back from US but according to what I found on the website you provided.... I can apply now for the position I want but I should be having my ECFMG certificate as soon as I am approved.... I wonder how to do that? should it be through ERAS? and what is the difference between residency and followship? and which one I qualify for? Do I have a good chance of being accepted in Plastic Surgery? Tahnks again for your kind reply
