What if you accept a pre match (verbally), on the phone. But now ur having second thoughts?
Still haven't got any paperwork or even the letter of intent, but seriously considering backing out.
Any ideas how to do it without looking bad?

You can go ahead, change your mind and turn down their offer. They can't cause you any harm as long as the legal matter is concerned. But they might retailate by ranking you very low or more likely not ranking you at all.

well im not so sure that program will rank u highly in match. and u had better inform them asap if u have a change of decision - may help some1 else who might be interested in the program. about the legal consequences (if any) u need professional help. about the excuse which to give u cud say u have had a change of mind due to family reasons, etc..

Just apologize for the change in mind and inform them that you want to go for the match.Thank them for the offer and let them know that you still think very highly of them and it will be reflected in your ROL.
