international normalised ratio is the ratio between patient prothrombin time and an international standard normalised value for the test solution.

if inr will normally be aaroud 1. in anticoagulation with heparin in af, dvt etc it shud be kept at around 4 -5 . if it is more there is a high risk of heamorhage

If a patient has artificial mitral valve-required INR is 2.5-3.5
other patients on warfarin should have 2-3

way to go msyamp

msyamp I think u mean warfarin not heparin.we dont use INR for minitoring heparin therapy.

yes geroo you are right i wonder how i typed it wrong.

ALWAYS

PROTHROMBIN TIME --- WARFARIN --- EXTRINSIC PATHWAY

PARTIAL TROMBOPLASTIN TIME --- HEPARIN -- INTRINSIC PATHWAY
