dear frens,

I have an interview at st barnabas. How good is it, do they do h1 easily and how do I talk abt prematch during interview? Anyone here who got a prematch offer, if yes, how soon? plz tell me abt it.

I have a prematch offer from a good university hospital but they dont do H1. only j1s. How bad is J1?

Thanks, any response is appreciated.

the reviews that i've heard of st.barnabas arn't that good.imgs go there b/c they do give H1(if u have passed step 3)..the work load there is tremendous.

about J1...u must realize that once u take a J1 visa, after completeing ur residency u'll have to work for 3 years in a medically underserved area (waiver) in the US to convert to H1(and then process green card).waiver jobs r usually in very small towns and remote areas...on the other hand if u take H1 from barnabas,u can find a job with H1 in any big city.so it's really ur choice.some people like living in small towns...so..u can opt for J1 then.but if u don't want to do waiver..then go for H1.

i think barnabas does offer premtach.ask politely during interview...there's nothing worng with that.

hope my account helps.

if is st barnabas from bronx, NY, i think that is one of the worse place in US. They offer prematch to almost everybody. Don't throw a universitary p. just because they do not offer H1b. Even with h1b at st barnabas, NY you have big chaces to finish your medical journey after 3y.

Thanks everyone for your opinion. It really helped. But is it difficult to get a J1 waiver? I guess if i do take up J1 visa, i will take it all the way to fellowship. BBB, any advise??

it's not that difficult to get J1 waiver....they need physicians in the underserved areas...that won't be a prob for you...just living in a very small town could be of concern
