21 y/o gravida 0, para 0 woman presents to your office because she thinks she has breast cancer, she notes bumps in both breasts that become tender around the time of menstruation

On examination, multiple cystic, tender lesions can be felt in both breast without a dominant mass, what is the best course of action



a. Reassurance & scheduling of a follow-up appointment

Do you dare to do such things without mamography and/or ultrasound?

ofcourse we can do ultra sound. but is it necessary to do mammogram?confused iam very confused and not sure of it.

I seem to have an answer right from the hospital in Florida:One of my friends had the same thing(except she was 32 when the Dg was made),what they did after the manual breast exam and ultrasound was FINE NEEDLE BIOPSY.Only when results came out negative,they did let her go.

I agree with MSyamp...I'll go with FNAC here...

in all breast diseases cancer has to be ruled out even if the presentation suggests a benign condition.

this woman is 21 yrs old and a mammogram might not be as helpful ( breast too dense ) thus FNAC is a much better option and necessary to rule out cancer and to also establish the diagnosis.

the answer is C.
