Call and ask the programs that are near your residence if they offer observership or externship.

thank u bbb!i have cleared my step 1.but have to do ck and cs.i want to know what is the best time for externship?if i'm given an option b/w observership and externship, which one is better?i'm aiming for 2007 match, when should i complete my steps,i mean when does application for next year match start processing?

thank u for ur help.

If you want the best chances for 2007 match, then you need to have all your steps completed and be ECFMG certified by August/September 2006. Then the program knows that you will be ready to start.

Externship is better because you will actually have hands on experience.

Hi all, i am keen to do an observership.I have passed my USMLE steps 1&2,answered my step2cs in december and waiting for the result. Is it possible to get into an observership without being ECFMG certified.I came to the US on visitor's visa and i want to make my short stay here worthwhile.
