if he has hypercalcemia secondary to any causes like multiple myeloma or other bone tumor, then alkaline phosphatase and calcium are elevated and phosphorous is decreased. Hypercalcemia can cause polydypsia and polyuria. If the patient has longstanding uncontrolled diabetes mellitus 1 or II, then he might have microalbuninuria or proteinuria. This makes calcium levels decreased, even though corrected calcium is normal for corrected albumin. Phosphorous and serum alkaline phosphatase would be normal. If it primary hyperparathyroidism, increased PTH will increase serum calcium and decreased phosphorous, and alkaline phosphatase might be slighlty increased.
