is it cardiac output? thts the closest i cud come up with with this equation O2 consumption= C.O (Arterial O2content-venous O2content) correct me plz

D..STROKE VOLUME i m not sure anout answer.just aguess. O2 consumption is increased when ADENOSINE ( LOCAL METABOLITE is there).. stroke volume will increase, i think

i think its a . the aortic diastolic pressure. The phase which determines the oxygen consumption is the isovolumetric contraction. During this phase pressure in the ventricle is raised to overcome the aortic diastolic pressure, so that the aortic valve can be opened and blood ejected. Hence, if u have a greater diastolic pressure, the ventricle develops more pressure in overcoming that force hence more oxygen consumed. I dont know, i may be 100% incorrect also, but i wud have gone this way. In btwn, am a new member here. and please post the correct answer as soon as possible, so that i cud rectify my concepts!!

well the ans marked in simulated is c.... and it says the amount of oxgen consumed is proportional to the amount of work performed, which is stroke work....

well i think one way or the other all the listed options have their effects on myocardial consumption, and choice C is the consolidation of all.... this question applies the true principle of one best as none of the others are technically wrong!

oops i got it wrong, but that made me read the question more carefully... the question says what is most closely related and not a factor that determines myocardial oxygen consumption. Basically it needs a factor which when calculated gives oxygen consumption. hence, to calculate o2 consumtion, stroke work is calulated which is area under the pressure volume loop, ahich is got by mutiplying the CO or more accurately SV and Aortic pressure. Had the question been which factor determines the oxygen consumption then i guess the answer wud have been aortic diastolic pressure..any guesses or sugestions????
