Hi if i complete my residency from xyz state but want to do a job in california after getting board certified,,do i still need to go thru the cali letter thing? does anyone know?

yes u will need a california letter at that time aswell.

dont worry - trust me if u get a job in cali - 500 bucks is a very small price to pay.. u need to have license of the state in which u practice. apurva

its not about the money, apurva, its about the headache of getting whatver is to be done from our med school back in india

Hey guyz....even if u r not planning to do ur residency from CA, keep the Cal Letter ready now itself. why do u want to go through the hastles after 10 yr. its a time taking procedure. its upto u guyz . bye

btw isnt it a yearly thing? do u have to renew it? plus they require step3 and ecfmg certi. u can submit them later but it just delays ur appli furthur - or so i have heard and cool - ur right - the red tape in college offices is a pain apurva

hmmm apurva, you just increased the pain by saying its a yearly thing.. .as if this pain was not enuf once..... anyone, any inputs?

Hey Rashmi, So if I have the CA letter but am going to a different state for residency, will the CA letter be still valid if i want to do fellowship in CA 3 years later? Do you know?

cali letter costs around 1200 dollars and it is not a one time headache, u need to renew it every year.
