Equilibrium potential in a nerve cell for K+ = -105 mV, for Na+ = +55 mV

Serum K+ = 2.9 mEq/L, Na+ = 125 mEq/L

The resting potential for a nerve cell in this person is approximately:

a. + 80 mV

b. +50 mV

c. +22 mV

d. -25 mV

e. - 50 mV

f. - 98 mV

f. - 98 mV

i did'nt calculate it, but low K+ hyperpolarizes the membrane, others don't even come close, so this is my best guess!

but ssrpk, dont u think, that excess k will hyperpolarize the memb, and excess of na will depolarize, here both the na and the k are decreased...confused

  #4

sodium has minimal impact on RMP as it's conductance is zero during resting phase.
