The opthalmic artery is not part of the circle of willis. carpe diem!

the ophthalmic artery is a branch of the internal carotid artery,which is a part of the Willis Circle.

sorry all :oops: in my post I didn't tell that it was unilateral total blindness.
total blindness is caused by occlusion of the basilar artery at the junction of the two posterior cerebral arteries

This is a poorly phrased question.

Middle meningeal artery is unlikely and infrequent. The only possibility that blindness could happen is when the opthalmic branches off this artery.

You should say total blidness with macular sparing is caused by basilar occlussion, because macular area in the occipital lobe have colateral circultarion provided by middle cerebral artery

yes definitly.....total blindness with macular sapring is feature of involvement of occipital lobe.....posterior cerebral artery.....
