yep,agree with u small,quite a provocative post and yes,if the guy can really hold the girl's interest,i don't think being a sw guy or doc really matters.In b/w,the saying was 'the most priceless that a man can give a woman is his undivided attention'.Just a li'l change of words.

I just wanted to make sure you know the meaning of the word you chose.
All the ingenious women you are trying to lure to this rather futile and biased and aged conversation are too busy doing ingenious things(except a few of us I suppose ;-))!
You ingenious boys will have to caryy it on by yourself sadly- but look at it this way- you can say whatever you want and no one will refute!

hi,
i wanted to clear my point  , first.. by using the phrase ingenious women....laptop tries to suggest that there are such people as un-ingenious women (wot a thing to presume!) second...he goes on to suggest that his ingenuity equates to that of 3 ingenious women!!!

I'm not answering the above mentioned question but will def. speak out for the CS guys.
I 'NEVER" knew that guys or even girls married docs b/c they make more money. !!!! . All men in my family who are rich are either landlords or businessmen. WHO SAID, doctors earned more????? Doctors are sort of second class in my family.
I'm a doctor, b/c I wantd to be one and had to face lots of criticism from the family.
All thru my med. school experience I found NOT ONE guy who was worthy of getting married to....No offense but all were so frustrated and so trying-to-please sort of guys...
Mayb it was just my experience or mayb guy docs ARE like that. I've yet to see a male doc worthy of being respected. (Plz no offense to all guys here on forum, my opinion is based on MY experience and might change after I meet good ppl in residency)
To make a long story short, above are MY several reasons of NOT marrying a doc.
I'm married to a phD CS guy only b/c he's educated and also has 'TIME" for me.
It's so much fun to be able to spend quality time with your significant other, NOTHING beats that.
I can easily say that " I have a LIFE "......

from the point of view of an old, spoiled spinster: our selection process works like a colander. First of all, being with somebody must be better than being WITHOUT somebody and with a good book in your hands. Another point: asking in secret the most feared question (am I going to be this guy's slave? Chills down my spine!) Third: is he as funny as my daddy? (eek!) Then, the reverse: the way you judge, you shall be judged. The guy is seeing your calculating look, and is not too convinced. He will go for the next underwear model with high dependency needs.} How unromantic. Another bit of information: the sense of touch for us is more important than sight /reverse of you) NEVER TRY TO UNDERSTAND THIS- IT TAKES THE FUN OUT OF IT!

There are sooooo many more important things to consider in a marriage than the profession... "Doctors" are not a homogeneous group, neither are engineers, chefs, actors, dentists, etc, etc, etc...
About the money... Its importance varies from person to person. And the longer you stay with somebody, the greater the chance things are going to change, and nothing is secure regarding finances. For a while, the woman may be earning more. Then she slows down to have babies and the husband takes care of the bills. Then the kids are OK going to the day care and she goes back. It may take a while for her to be on top of her game again. One never knows... Nothing is safe, nothing is forever. But it has to be "our money", not "mine" and "yours". It's a team work.
Of course, we avoid marrying loosers and people who dream and plan a lot, but don't get up early to make the dreams come true. But there's no secret formula, that's for sure!
