Cyclosporine is necessary in identical twin transplant. Explain why?

You HAVE to give immuno supression in all the transplants (except an autotransplant), even between identical twins...cos of somatic mutations...these create minor differences in the HLA genes, which can lead to a graft rejection. To rule out this possibility, even 'syngeneic' (aka monozygotic) transplants are followed by Cyclosporine (prevents IL-2 synthesis and IL-2 receptor expression)

Agree with Doc2378. Any transplantation must to be followed except autograft (organ is taken from one location and then translanted to other location in the same individual). Identical twin transplant may have graft rejection because some somatic mutations may occur during the development of individuals.

Yes, that sounds right to me! this is a Goljan High Yield Point. And he writes in his notes: "There is still some difference in MHC sites from crossover of chromosomes in meiosis, and therefore its necessary to give cyclosporine even in identical twin transplants." I dont think somatic and meiotic mutations are one and the same. Can someone help me understand his statement?
