non spe a and b=labetolol,carvidelol

cardioselect. b1 --metoprolol, atenolol, acebutolol, betaxalol, esmolol

int symp activity (partial agonist) --pindolol, acebutolol

nonselective b1 and b2 -- propanolol, nadalol, and timolol are non selective

GOOD COLLECTION. BUT

I HAVE A BASIC DOUBT.

WHY ARE THESE NASTY THINGS CALLED B- BLOCKERS WHEN ACTUALLY THEY ARE DOING SOOO MANY OTHER THINGS? I HATE THEM.

JUST TO CONFUSE US.

yes pindolol and alprenolo are non selective beta blockers.

to be candid, i have not yet read how all these horrible drugs are used but i am making a table of their actions and funny behaviors.

with the ISA'S main thing is they will cause less bradycardia and hypotension cos they stimulate the sympathetic while blocking them at same time. thanks msyamp for indicating they are partial agonists. that makes sense.

one other thing about those with isa is the incidence of rebound Hypertension on abrupt withdrawal of the drug is less than those without ISA.
