Regarding type 11 herpes virus genital inection at 32 wks pregnancy Which is true

a-active infection at 32 wks is a definitive indication for C-section

b-Shedding of virus does not occur without active lesion.

c-acyclovir should be given for 6 wks to prevent recurences

d-A c-section is recommended in a patient within 4 hours of ruputure of membranes.

ya pram you arre right.

if the infection after 34 weeks or at delivery active then even we plan delivery with medications.though we prefer CS

agree with achilles.... since its type 2 ...restricted to genital lesions.. thus only on contact with these lesions will result in transmission to fetus( during delivery ).. therefore let preg proceed normally.. n just prior to labour.. go in for elective CS... but if membranes hav ruptured for more than 8-12hr then the infection might hav already spread to the fetus.... so no use of CS there... smiling face

plz write if u'l agree or disagree with it.. smiling face

well it is not an infection at delivery. it is at 32 weeks which can be treated by antivirals and a normal delivery is possible. if the infection goes beyond 36 then ok.

true stepkiller...you can treat herpes type 2 in pregnancy ( which is uncomplicated ) with antivirals ...but what if this patient with herpes type 2 genital lesions at 32 wks has rupture of her membranes ? then it does become complicated and then the answer has to be D.

correct me folks if i am wrong.
