Hey guys how ru doing? just wanted to share a bit of my experience in one of the hospitals which u might find usefull.
Many guys were telling that if refuse pre-match then the programme wont rank u right?
I think from my view it is true most of times.
So far i have had 4 prematch offers of my 12 calls,and one PD offered me pre-match on the spot and i requested some time to think over it then they sent me an e-mail again offering the prematch which i now have on records ( sent by PD himself).
Then i gently truned down the offer by e-mauling them and thanking them etc etc...
Then a day later i get an e-mail from pd saying that ''sorry for mistakenly making u belive that u had prematch from us''
hehe his ego ccame in between,sure this guy isnt ranking i thought i wud rank him 3 rd or 4 th,but now a waste trip and loss of money.
to hell with prematches and ego

i;m having the same problem the prematches I turned down are ignoring me now. And the ones that extended their deadline are trying to pressure me by saying we have other people we want to offer but are waiting until we hear a definite decision from you. That's 5 prematch offers from 7 programs, so if i refuse the prematches then I'm left with nothing.

Is any of the prematch offer from a very good program say second or third in your list? if they are you should close your eyes and sign something and get started from there> i think it is not easy to win or get all in life< at a point one has to make a compromise> I KNOW if a program wants you too much they will rank you even if you turn down their offer but we have to be very diplomatic when turning down an offer>

if you have 5 out of 7 people giving you prematches and if you are not accepting ,it means only your top 2 havent offered you one yet.....that means your number 3 choice seems to have offered you a prematch.....i dont understand what you are waiting for!!!!
i mean there are people who have not even gotten 5 interviews and you have 5 pre matches!!!
make a good decision ....fast......

as for me,no pre match offers as yet,but if i get one from any of my top 4,i ll go for it.

I totally agree with coolbabe. If you get 5 prematches from 7 interviews, it indicate that you are a very strong candidate. But you should have some consideration for the those people reading this forum and not having even 4 interviews.Besides You only have two other places to try your luck in the match. Anyway, I beleive that you must be having exceptional talents in dealing with interviews. Getting prematches in more than 50% of all the interviews is definitely worth to be congratulated. Anyway, its your decision .

hai sandu, how are you? No news from you for a long time, My next interview is in cook county next week. Getting tense when I think of the match. Anyway, best of luck.

i can't just consider myself when accepting a prematch, no matter how good the program is, I have to consider things beyond that. I am MARRIED, and even though I might like a program, things I have to look at are if there is any jobs my husband can get into, There was a program I really really liked that offered me a prematch,but my husband would not be able to find a job within even 2 hours(and he says he is willing to commute up to 1 and 1/2 hours)
I consider myself lucky that he is willing to leave a job in which he is doing very well and has been in for 7 years and is moving up,
Dr.Mamu, Do you mean I haven't been considerate of people in this forum? I have always tried to be as supportive of everyone as they have been of me!!! Different people have different problems, I would have felt better going through with the match instead of getting prematches, I have 4 more interviews left of which I am cancelling 2 because they are in areas my husband won't have job opportunities or doesnt want to go.

Hey dia,
don't u think if u go for match u won't be left with any option...since u'll have to accept the program where u match.atleast right now u can choose.anyways....i don't think u're being inconsiderate( and i don't think drmamu meant that either) u have obviously worked hard to be in the position to choose and so u shud take ur time to make ur decision.it really is to ur credit that u've clinched so many prematch offers...good for u!
but u and hubby shud definitely consider the fact that by going for match u really will be bound to a single option.

ya i agree with smak ,if one go thru the match ,u r bound to take the place u got,it may be the place u declined the pre match offer,one can never tell.but i do hope that u match to ur no 1 program.good luck for that.
