Can someone explain what selective IgA deficiency is? thanks

selective Ig A deficiency is the most common dysgama globulinemia.

symptoms are repeated sinopulmonary and urinogenital infections.
allegies athma and SLE and RA are more common.

Give antibiotics no immunoglobulins

tht ws good. just a point more...

the molecular defect is a failure of heavy chain gene switching. Lab evidence: normal levels of IgM and IgG; and normal levels of these Igs, ensures that some patients may not get very frequent infections. You dont give Igs or whole blood to these patients because they will develop Abs against the IgA in that product and by cross reaction deplete any IgA that they may have in their own body.

, a point

IGa, is presnt on the mucosal surfaces, and as a result, u will get all the mucosal infections morehence nasal and sinus infections. and gi infections
