i think a, because in the lower lobes of lungs ventilation is low in the normal standing or sitting position and perfusion is high and vice versa in upper lobes. even though respiratory center is depressed, because of decreased respiration at night, v/q ratio would be more uniform in the middle portion of lungs at night. Snoring is obstruction to breathing, so V is decreased. Embolus is obstruction to blood flow, so Q is down. no to meditation, because ventilation is increased during inspiration, but Q is decreased secondary to increased venous return to the heart. slow walking causes increase in venous return due to vasodilation, ( at least initially).

answer-d because you get tachycardia but decrease blood flow making the ratio closer to 1.

d??? in embolus the perfusion is much much less than ventilation and v/q will be far greaterthen 1

well the perfusion can even be zero in emboli, and in that case, the v/q ratio would be infinity re u sure...

Normally the lungs recieve 5L/min and a 70-kg man has a ventilation rate of 4L/min yielding a V/Q ratio of 0.8 (a suboptimal match). A V/Q ratio of 1 is ideal because it indicates an optimal V/Q match. {typicall this occurs in exercise when alveolar ventilation increases to a greater extent then cardiac output increasein the V/Q ratio to 1. V/Q ratio can apply to the entire lung or to separate areas of the lung and measures the efficiency of ventilation in separate areas as well. A pathologic condition that increases V/Q ratio is pulmonary embolus- because pts are (respiring rapidly) which increases ventilation but the clot in the lungs reduces pulmonary perfusion. Both of these increase V/Q ration. The pathologic consequence of an increase V/Q ratio is that ventilation is "wasted" on areas that are not adequately perfused. *Perhaps the q could have said what increases V/Q ratio instead of what makes it closer to 1. Most of the time I make up my own qs.

that may be right, but it has to be a small pulmonary embolus, which partly impairs the blood upply, think of a condition when the large pulmonary embolus, blocks the total blood supply, in that csae it would be infinity, ya u could say increases the v/q ratio , but not close to 1. because 1 means that the ventilation is equal to the perfusion which is not the case in a pulmonary embolus...

With sleep , what stage of sleep? Actually Id think of slow walking as a form of exercise.
