alpha agonists hv a vasoconstrictive tone on the peripheral vessels....arterioles and capacitance veins...a block of this action results in pooling of blood in the veins on postural change. esp severe in elderly. tht correct?

Normally the baroreceptor reflex prevents the pooling of blood. Alpha 2 antagonist block this reflex which causes vasoconstriction and increase H.R.

I watched Kaplan Video and it said that any drugs that dilate veins may cause orthostatic hypotension.
