Hello..

this is my first post in this forum... i just started preparing for step 1.. i graduated in 1997!! with only one year of experince.. should i continue studying or find another job!!!.. can some one please advise me with what i should read!! any suggesstions will be highly appreciated :-)

hey saddoqi

never give up on your dreams!!!! i know people who were out of the game for nearly 20 years and went back (and they were FMG)! if they can do it, so can you!

as far as what to read - there's a list of recommended books in one of the moderator's posts...i agree with it, i'm sure many others will much more to offer on that. i really just wanted to say that i think you should give it a go.

take first aid as your guide! from this forum and that book you'll find some good review books for each subject you study

try giving the exam, you won't lose out if you prepare well enough

saddoqi, you can still re-enter your profession, but since you've been away from patients for so long, I think you might need to fit some time into your time-table to do externships. Letters of reccommendations from Canadian physicans who supervised you would probably work just as well as American LORs. So don't give up, do the steps, but take a few months out for externship experiences to reduce your disadvantage at being an early graduate.
