saddoqi, you can still re-enter your profession, but since you've been away from patients for so long, I think you might need to fit some time into your time-table to do externships. Letters of reccommendations from Canadian physicans who supervised you would probably work just as well as American LORs. So don't give up, do the steps, but take a few months out for externship experiences to reduce your disadvantage at being an early graduate.
