Hello guys,
I just to let you all know that I didn't make it this time, this was unbelievable for me, I was not expecting it this time. Actually I'm not worrying about my self exactly, its all about my parents, they have an eye on me, and I want to show them that I can make it. Worst thing is this, I don't know exactly what went wrong, so that I can correct my mistakes.
What else can I do, put more hard work and especially listen to goljan, do some good questions, e.g complete robbins review, web path, and do physiology q bank and repeat q book and q bank. And what else I have to do is hit more then 70 in every exam. I don't know where my luck is. But one thing which I know is, WORK HARD as HELL.
I'm coming back to step 1 again.

I am REAL sorry to hear that budddy!!!! It is soo hard to believe ....you have always been so helpful and always the one to come up with useful suggestions about everything...
Its really shocking to hear that in your case...
Be strong buddy...more so for your parents...I am sure that you'll be making them proud pretty soon as this is but a temporary set-back...you'll soon bounce back!!!

Dear Shakeels So sorry for you man... What went wrong? When did you find out? did you receive your report or did you find out through OASIS? Chuta compadre que cagada! But this is no time to regret past events, whats done is done... Stand up and go for it! Taking this test is no easy task and sharing this sad experience with everyone either. From your experience.. Could you share with us some of things we should do and not do in our preparation? Relax & Try to motivate yourself! Im very sorry, but this is not the end this has just begun! Fuerza compadre!

Shakeels, I am so sorry to hear that you didnt't pass, and honestly, quite shocked. I agree with Doc2378 that you were always so helpful. Just get "back on the horse" as they say and go take it again. Don't make the misktake of waiting too long and then forgetting what you have studied up until now. I made that mistake. I too, felt like I let my parents down and they were so wonderful with their support. BUT, they got over it and continue to support me so I'm back at it. The only way not to pass is to stop trying. You can do it and now with an even better score! Best of luck and never give up!!!

I could understand your feeling. I went back read the message I wrote a coulple weeks ago about myself since I failed 2nd attempt. It was sad... and fustrated!!! I had similar experience( even same score,) as you have. We should find out what is the problem: Does our study cover deep enough knowledge? Are our the testing skill s good enough? integration ability, tec. in term of your parents side they will change later. Don't concern their attitude too much( my parents ask me to stop, even told me should not to try). For now,focous your self! take a break, you deserve it as you work too hard !!

Shakeel I am really sad to hear this bad news. Just think it as Allah's Will. Leave it what has passed and now just concentrate on your weak point of study which you would better knew what they were. I have heard that this step exam is very unexpected I mean you cant imagine the way of testing , some time ppl with selective study got pass and sometime ppl having full time study do not get through the exam. Better luck next time dont loose heart YOU CAN AND YOU WILL INSHALLAH

thank you guys thanks a lot to all of you for being much supportive. Well, its shock for me to do oasis trick, but when I saw my scores then its another shock for me, but what can I do just keep on more work hard and go on. If I will be depressed then I will waste my time and let my prep behind. What I have decided for my self, I will listen to goljan with his notes for 5 days, and keep on listening while going and coming back from the library, so that every thing will stick in my mind and, try to finish all those robbins review and web path, and do all physiology q bank on cd.
As far as my parents are concerned, they are being supportive for me, am thank full to them, my mother is telling that your door is still open, and my father is asking me to do it again. my father is telling me that, he saw me working hard but advice me to change my strategy, and that I will gona do.
and one thing more, I will not go until I will get above 500 in NBME. I hope that it will worke, inshAllah I will pass this time.
and AGAIN, am thank full to all of you guys.

Really sorry to hear about your failure.... Truly. You seemed to know all about it, giving helpful advices to us. Well, no one knows except Him, what had happened. Well, it's great you are not giving up! Keep that road, you will get there, friend! I KNOW, all hard work must pay off sometime! It's just must! I imagine all those who failed, must have good ground under their feet, and must be much stronger, than us, those who never took test and don't know what to expect. People go for this exam up to 4 times, I know, and they get it finally. Like others say, look at it positive, like the opportunity to get higher score next time.
So, I wish you even stronger stamina and even more energy to go on!
One piece of advice I can give you(I am sure you would be the one to give advices!) is-make sure you understand what you didn't. As I understand this test, it's all about good understanding of main concepts plus memorization of others plus correlation between subjects. Yes, Dr.Goljan does amazing job-best teacher I've ever known.

Hi Shakeels, I'm really sorry about ur step1 score. I know how it feels since this is my 2nd time to study for it again. I really appreciate all the advices you've given me and all the others who asked for advices here. I will pray for you and your exam.Sometimes we are given obstacles we have to overcome during our journey in life but in the end, we will end up in the same place as everyone else. Just like you, I won't take the exam unless I get 500 above.Good luck buddy. We can do it!

was shocked to hear that, dont know why god tests the good people more. well u have been so supportive, to all and so kind, but dont give up, u will do it.....
do more mcqs this time, like even try bss and nms, or others whatever u can get hold of, all the best buddy, and believe in god, he is just testing u, thjis too shall pass

Shakeels, I am really sorry to read this...Please dont lose faith! This can be done, just think it's another opportunity to get a decent score! (That's working for me) Now you are a 2-time veteran, and next time you sit for this test, you will soooo destroy this test!!! Remain calm, reassess and conquer!

Hi Shakeels, I am sorry to hear that you failed step one twice but relieved to know that you are trying again. Life is a marathon not a sprint and it rewards those of us who persevere. It is honestly puzzling that a hard working person like you is not rewarded for efforts. I know how painful this is for you right now, but may be 10 years from now, it wont matter. For a person who trusts in God, every experience is a lesson. not a random event. Maybe you had to endure this so you will be more understanding of people's failures in the future. My failures have taught me that, and I never thought that I will say this, but I am even grateful for them, as I appreciate every succes that much more and never take anything good for granted. Maybe I have simply rationalized my way out of ever ypainful experience in my life, but it has worked very well for me, and it might, for you too!
Please try to examine your strategy as others had suggested too. Please try to concenterate on finding how deep your review is after each revision. Do you know the concepts and facts well enough to teach someone? For this, you may want to read different texts and take brief notes which you can review just before exam. Are you able to apply what you have learnt in different contexts? For this you may want to test yourself with as many current questions sources as possible.
May God grant you every grace required to master this adversity and come out on top of it! All the best to you, Shakeels!

Hi lisaM, I think you are absolutey right, well, I'm able to teach the all the subjects except BS, but that was not the problem in my real exam, my BS has the same score as it is in Physiology and Pathology, its opposite as I scored in NBME and kaplan cd. in those cd's and nbme my score was low in BS and high in all P's, and in real exam its same in BS and all p's like physiology Pharm and Path. What i'm concluding, may be or for sure that my brain was not working at that time, as I was thinking that it was working. bcz I do remember that my exam was not tough and most of the questions I was just looking at the right choice.
Like my strategy now should be to do whole physiology q bank and especially listen to goljan and read his notes and make a good conceptual relation of all the subjects with each other except BS, for BS I will gona do lots of questions and do that washington link for bioethics and complete robbins review pathology 1100 qs and web path and do again very fast revision of q bank and q book and know them in and out.
I hope that these things will work for me this time, and inshAllah I will make it this time.

Sorry to hear that.Iknow what u r going through,as i failed for the 2nd time as well just recently.now m lost too as what i should do that would get me a passing score.I spoke to couple of failures who has completed their exams and now doing interview (not so much failures r they !!) .They said we have still chance (2 time failure) to get a residency and provided we don't fail again & get a good score the 3rd time & also in step 2.Right now i have night mares about my failure.All my friends i know score above 90 .Its sounds so easy ain't it?? oh well !
Like i emphasized in my last post,i wish iknow where i've gone wrong ,how i should study ,what i should do this time that i haven't done before.After bouts of self damnation (merde !!) i have decided i should do more questions ,from all the books i can find .from my 2 xams I can tell the question patterns r changing ,its defenitely getting tougher ,although the contents are the same .THey are asking the same MI but different styling of question.what do u think ?
Anyway, lets help eachother , THe second time failure anonymous or step one failure anonymous (SFA) ha ha haa !! Do u have any clues what could've gone wrong with ur xam ?i think if all of us SFA 's put our cards out , we can come out with a solution God willing.May ALLAAH gives u patience & sucess next time.oh,listen ,The greatest glory lies not in never falling but to rise up after every fall !!!!

Hi Shakeels and ninety_nine, please dont let the number of attempts worry you. It may actually be a good idea to forget them and think that they were all practice exams like the NBME and work like you are working to sit this exam the very first time, but with greater familiarity of what to expect.
Maybe you did right the previous times in terms of the study materials and question sources and throughness of the same is all you need to ace step one! Please spend time reading exam experiences in this forum and plan your strategy. Once you have your plan, try to stick with it without doubts and second guessing. I prayed for you guys just now and will be remembering you in my prayers.

hello,
does anyone know if one can improve nbmecsores in 1month after scoring a mere 350.its very crucial and am about to loose it out here.my exam block ends march.do I have any scope for improvement.need some kind words of advicepls........dyou think if I start qbank and do more ques it will help becoz i have done the theory part from kaplan already.am waiting on my new first aid too.
