I dont get it... Western Blot is a method for detection specific proteins, such as detection of HIV antibodies... What I think theyre asking is which of the following substances is NOT a protein that could be expressed by a gene (the question is formulated in a very akward manner and I think this is the closest interpretation to reality and english is not my first language)... well and the second issue I have is that proteins dont probe with DNA only nucleic acids can probe with nucleic acids (complementary and antiparallel), unless these are DNA binding proteins such as transcription factors.. Don't know the answer! Roop why did you pick protein kinase 1? these is a phosphorylating enzime that is activated by cAMP which phosphorylates other enzimes including CREB which binds to DNA. Anyone plz! I dont know!

sorry for the typo, in my previous answer... it should hve been.. protein kinase thats the only one which does not bind to DNA. Usually a western blot uses an antibody as a probe to detect protein. If the probe is a labelled DNA, then it is designed to detect DNA binding protein. Among the five, protein kinase is not the DNA binding protein.
