Ok Im going to answer this, but Im not quite sure.. In fact I could be all wrong, but whats the point of being active on a open forum if we don't share and discuss our different point of views..
Well doc please correct me if I'm wrong.
So here's what I think when a person takes cocaine there's a marked increase of NE release in nerve endings. This has two effects the first one (that always happens) there's an increase in heart's workload so there's an increase in O2 consumption (you could also add coronary vasoconstriction). And the second effect is on platelets (not always present) which tend to aggregate with masive doses of coke producing an intravascular trombosis (in fact trombosis is always intravascular just being redundant)! That's why these people tend to have sudden infarcts not only at the heart but also at the brain. Not to mention that chronnic coke consumption makes the heart's chambers dilated when this happens the heart's metabolism switches from B oxidation of fatty acids to aerobic glucolysis..
Now to the question assuming the heart is hypoxic prior this dude's death, there would be a LOCAL decrease of ATP and high levels of AMP, wich in fact are going to affect PFK1 activity INCREASING IT! PEPCK is for gluconeogenesis, Transketolase is for closing HMP shunt, PDH and succinate dehydrogenase are in the mitochondria which are the main organelles to collapse with hypoxia, and that's basically it..
was hard thou!
Lets see what you think

well I will go with PFK1

  #4

good one. i dint get it yet. so you say that due to hypoxia pfk is the only enzyme upregulated. ya ok

in hypoxia,as o2 is accepetor of H+ IN ETC -LESS ATP is formed.initially body wants to make much atp as it can.as u know through glycolysis ATP is produced,so in hypoxia all enz ofglycolysis is upregulated

I think it will help

  #6

I would go with a simple way.PFK1 is rate limiting step of glycolysis. So it will be affected.correct me
