UW: 55% NBME: 430 (3 wks b4) USMLE CD: 71% Kaplan q book: Did only a few; averaged around 64 (I don't remember exactly) Step 2 ck: 94/228 (3.5 months before) Step 3: 78/192 Studied for about 6 weeks. Used UW mainly for mcqs, read crush but not entirely, and a few chapters from FA. For ccs I used shaher's cd (found it to be very helpful) and uw. It's true what they say; Step 3 is very very difficult and not to be taken lightly.

Score in actual exam, 72, failed Score in kaplan q bank- not done Score in USMLE world- timed and untimed- 60% avg. range: 48%-80% Score in exam CD/NBME: didn't do I did Crush, Kaplan and UW MCQs and UW CCS cases. Never expected that I will fail, my step 1 and 2 scores are 93 and 91. so step 3 result was a shock. But I am posting my score for others to learn that even though my UW score was good, I could give only 3 weeks to step 3 prep and was travelling all the time for ivs. So people step 3 isnt a cakewalk. Dont underestimate it. study enough and practice CCS nicely. My guess is I lost the game in CCS.

Actual Exam: 200/83 NBME: In the 500's, don't recall exactly. USMLEWorld: 60%-70%, untimed, but not tutor mode. My advice (such as it is)... Edit the Rest can be found in teh Exam Experience forum under the poster's name.

Whew! I am so relieved I passed Step 3. Didn't get much time to study since I did it between traveling from one interview to another. Just studied sporadically from December to mid-January. I got 91/222. Took it mid-Jan, got the result today. I did maybe half of the questions in UW, scores ranged from 45 to 70%. I studied all the CCS though. I didn't do Kaplan. I just studied First Aid and Crush Step 3 - read both cover to cover, that's all. Good luck to all those still studying for it

Hi everyone! This forum has been very helpful for me, so now that I have my results, let me post all my scores and experience, hoping it will help others: Step 1: 96 Step 2 CK: 81 Step 2 CS: pass Step 3: 85 / 208 Prep for Step 3: About 6 months of preparation during research and applications/interviews. Did all Kaplan lectures + notes UW twice (first time: 60%, second time: 85%) UW CCS: all cases practised with ECFMG software Kaplan Qbank: 67% NBME: 510 USMLE CD: 78% Exam experience: Horrible! I found the exam MCQs extremely tough, especially on the second day. Very long, extremely complex cases, vague and strange questions and very little time. There were many I wasn't sure about. Finished all blocks, though, except for 2 or 3 questions in one block. The CCS cases were ok. I screwed up 2 and got the other 7 right. All in all, despite feeling very well prepared before the exam, I felt as though I had failed after the exam. Score report: Just like many others had said: Right around midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday 3 weeks after the exam. Advice: The lectures on DVD are good, but very time-consuming and sometimes out-dated. So watch them only if you have a lot of time and make sure you get the latest version. If you have less time and want more high-yield facts, I guess a book like First Aid or Crush Step 3 is the better option. UW is very good (both MCQ and CCS). Do those thoroughly, take notes of things you didn't know and revise repeatedly. Practice the CCS cases with the ECFMG software. That really helps. Somebody also posted a very helpful CCS algorithm on this site (see CCS section). I can recommend that approach. That way, you have nothing to worry about. Kaplan MCQs are not as good as UW and are not really necessary - do them only if you have the time. The NBME and USMLE-CD test exams are only good as score predictors, not really for studying. Funny enough, though, I had some MCQs on the original exam that were extremely close to some on the CD. But overall, this only serves as a pre-test. That's all I can think of right now. Hope this helps. Good luck to everyone! It's tough, but doable. microcephalus

Resources: Crush Step 3, First Aid, USMLE world Prep time: 2 months, 2 hours daily, 6-8 hrs. on weekends...I'm in residency so I was also busy working Practice scores: 55-75% on USMLE world depending on the subject CCS preparation: 2 days prior to exam..i used the cases in First Aid Experience: I honestly thought I scored higher so I was a little disappointed with my score at first. Then I thanked GOD that I passed and remembered that I only needed to pass. That's all that is needed to get your Medical License in any state. They don't care if you have a 75 or a 99...

continuation....it is CRITICAL that you practice the CCS cases because it can get tricky..There are only 5 cases on the USMLE disc but practice using the cases in the book. Good luck all!!
