I think it has to do with if there is an open slot in the center where and when you want to take the exam. Anyone else want to chime in??

yes u can, when u extend, ur slot becomes oct to march instead of oct to dec, so if u keep ur date, and dont change it, yes u can

I want to add one thing more. If you want to change your dates with in 5 days of your exam date, then you have to pay some amount to ECFMG.

Better decide your date before 5 days of your exam. And yes, you can take it on any day with in 6 months of your eligibility period, depending on the availibility of space.

thanks to you all for your help ,but i have another question

if i applied for extension of eligibility period ,can i take the test with old number in the original period .

Also ,the new identification number will take another 10 days to be sent by mail ,or i can use the old one ,at least to see if there is an open slot in Jan .

My exam is next tuesday 27 th ,so i was thinking about postponing the exam to Jan ,but i am afraid i will not find an available slot ,so keep the old one as a backup ,i do not know if this is possible ,meaning ,extension of eligibilty requires the new id number (orange paper) even for the original period ,i could not find any help on the website .

Imagine ,after i take the 7 hour exam ,i find that it would be cancelled smiling face

I just have today to decide ,so any help is highly appreciated .

My best wishes to you all smiling face
