first i'd recommend you go to this site usmle dot org, its a lengthy read...anyhow do chk out the 'bulletin of information'
there is a lot of info to gather, which you will get all in time....keep at it. post more queries if any. this is a great forum. good luck!

Give your self 6 months of advance time to give the exam - read the site that drk1980 mentions and also read old messages from this forum - they will give u the idea of the process !
