62 yr old man has sudden onset of left hemiparesis . a ct scan of the head shows localized region of cortical infarction . 6 mnths later , which of the following cells are most likely to be observed adjacent to the lesion

ependymal cells

fibroblasts

glial cells

multinucleate giant cells

myofibroblasts

neutrophils

Neurons have died (necrosis) so glial cells full the empty space or it can even persist as a pseudocyst. Fibroblast don't take part in reparation in the brain!

yes its glial cells...becuse after 6 month there should be scar formation and in cns scarring occur due to glial cells...

In HIV infection, the microglia cells are fused together to form the multineucleated giant cells, right?

I believe its macroglial cells that carryout the function of forming scars,and to be specific its the function of astrocytes.
