thankx for stoppin by mytime , well i did the NBME and , dont know what to say but im gald that i have auguat and september and now i know for sure what i can do to improve , the only thing i dont have is the strength, but i guess ill just have to leave that to allah.
i was ashamed , sacred , horrified , dont have the right word when i saw my result , actually ti was a lil high then what i had expaected , i thought ill be some where around 160 but compaired to that a 300 was an improvement............ but now i know for sure im not ready yet .
mytime , dont get paniced , i have been havin many panic attacks my self every day ...... im tryin to control my self and try to subject my self to even more pressure bcoz i can not afford to be panic or do any thing while takin the test .
i would really like ur all support , im plannin to work very hard for the next 20 days specialy concentratin on my week areas. and then takin the NBME 2.

do not let the NBME result shake your confidence.just concentrate on how you can improve you knowledge.And do qs to clear your concept.You are strong person and you can do this with God's help.

thankx mitty for the support , im doin great actually , it has been alot of help to focous my prep in a certain direction and not doin every thing blindly, it has actually reduced my stress level .
started with Beh.S as this was my weakest...... then ill move to neuro and then hematology.
will keep u guys updated

hi aisha
it was really nice of u to write in my journal...i was so glad that after a bad day without studying...i had two Mom's comments in my journal waiting there to encourage me. i have read ur journal..and KNOW how hard you have worked.
i am sure if we all FEEL and KNOW this...GOD knows and sees this better than the rest of US. so please have faith in HIM. dont feel down...hold down to HIS WILL.....and ur hardworkand all will be GREAT insha allah
when u can perform ONE miracle of giving birth.... USMLE stands no chance MOMS.......!! i have been repeating this and i shall repeat this to all the moms.on this FORUM.!!.coz i know why GOD makes moms..HE makes them coz HE cant be everywhere to take care of little angels.... and when u can DO a job next to GOD..cant u defeat one silly step of USMLE SURE YOU CAN./....all YOU MOMS WILL DO IT along with mehehe and all the non -momsheheheand all the dads and non-dads herehehe.............

smarty thankx for stoppin by, and thankx for such encouraging words, im havin panic attack every day now and when ever i have one this is what i do , close my books, and sit silently for a min and then i start prayin (tasbeh)for like 5- 10 mins, it has really worked calmin my nerves. Sleep has been a dream for me now, this is my 3rd night that im not able to sleep , havin bad dreams and this mornin i was tired but i draged my self through today and now its 11pm and i could not sleep again & so im back on my books , will try to do some thing until i feel sleepy......... dont know how im goin to get up at 6 am .
guys plz remember me in ur prayers, good luck to very one, im already missin tolito i pray she (all the rest of us) passes with a 99.

Dear aisha
I am in same situation.And my big problem is when I am reading one topic, the other topics which I do not know well come to my mind and my heart will start pounding.This makes me unproductive.Then I decided to read the topics which make me distrubed first.That way after I am 'done' with them I will give my full concentration to the less difficult topics.
If the reason your panic attack is similar to mine you can consider my solution.
May God help us to use effectively this last weeks of our preparation.

inshallah, thank u mitty for ur input, i think ur absolutly right , so im doin the same actually , although im jumoin from one thing to another but i think thats kind of makin things fun and me productive, im still workin on my sleep bcoz its really takin a toll on me.
i dont want to exahust n burn out in these last 3-4 wks. allah my help us all
yesterday i did nervous sys from FA and some things from the kaplan neuroanatomy, now jumpin to the BS psychiatry part i think this is my weakest area, yesterday i listen to golajn skin lecture when i was goin to pick up my son, it was helpful , this mornin i was listenin to CNS still have a some left . so first ill do the readin and when ill feel tired ill listen to him and if by then i have some time left ill go and read these 2 path lectures . im hopin this will help me.
oh yah i still have to do the CNS pharma , ok guy, good luck , ill hit my books now lots to do.

right now im doin things randomly and payin more attention to things that i was not good accordin to the NBME i took

aisha, sorry you have been going thro such a rough patch. relax. you have been studying so long and so hard. surely, it counts for something. you will draw on your fountain of knowledge on the dday.
about NBME, it is a tough call deciding to do it. i remember i postponed it for so long before i finally did 1. see for NBME to be used as a predictive tool, you need to have read and be ready for the exam ie you need to make like the NBME is the real exam. otherwise, you are not likely to score high and that will discorage you. use the scores from NBME rather to let you know your weak areas and not to let you know how good or prepared you are.
next thing aisha is it looks likeyou are planning on going in october. from now on go on full steam. revise all subjects. yes, those topics will keep on 'sprouting' in your mind. just keep a little book and write them down. odnt let them distract you from the systematic review that you are doing. they wil only increase your stress level. when you get to the subject with that knotty topic, then you deal with the topic. you will sometimes need to shuffle thro your notes when something crops up but at this stage, i willsay that you better write these things down andthen dedicate 2hrs each day to lookup these topics you want to confirm stuff on.
if you will be doing NBME in aug, then do a revision of all subjects between now and then. you have 16 days to do that. if you can be ready for NBME on aug 25th, then you can sit the exam first week in sept. yes you can do it aisha. between now and 25th, read like your life depends on it. no afternoon naps. just go the full hog and you will be rewarded.

i actually already took the NBME 1 31st july , and ill be takin the nbme 2 on 25th august , and im doin ecaxtly the same doin things that i have bee avoidin.

ok last night i started with pahtology, did CNS , skin, musculo.sk......... today ill statr with hematology it might take longer to finish this as this is one of my wk areas....... good luck every one

Ok i got the date for the exam , 8th sept im still not sure about it but i think this will atleast push me in to doin things a lil better. i was suppose to start hematology but i was still stuck with the CNS, im dead scared of it and i kind of got stuck with it , im goin to start the hematology today and try to do as much as possible, im not able make a time table , usually i always have a time table b4 the exam but this exam im just not able to do so. right now 7:30 am , son is up , will give him breakfast, n drop him to his daycare and will hit the books by 9:00 i guess.
i also have to fix my sleep wake cycle so no more late night readings and i got up at 5:00am well 5:30, it kind of took me 30 min to drag my slef out of the comfy bed .

thankx mytime & vallia for stoppin by and for ur support and well wishes , although im not doin so well , woke up 5am this mornin so i could study b4 my son would wake up and me havin all the other things to do, but my son had a lil fever last night , gave him tynelol, thought he will be better soon, then he had diarrhea this mornin and now he refused to eat .Now that finaly im able to go to bed 11:30pm im feelin sick too sore throat and stuffy nose, i was not able to study much this mornin (only 3hrs) , tomorrow ill try to cover up for the lose as much as and ill just keep tryin until .........

sorrry about your son's and your illness. take care of yourself. lots of hot fluids, vit c and antihistamines should help you. i also had a bout of sorethroat but i fought it cos i could not afford to lose too much time. i still lost 2 days  .
your immunity is going to be at its lowest so take daily multivitamins.

its soo good to have people like u and alot many....caring docs out here........this is what makes this website so awesome.....
and this is wht u need to practise in future too.....
CARE for a doc is a must.........exam is just a PERIOD...between docs and patients just a way to make them more prefect and to treat their patients with MORE care.

Aisha ,Just read your diary .Seems like somebody is writing my story with minor alterations .I have exam on sept 27th .I am still stuck in 50's in qbank .This is my first time around in q bank .My mistake was starting it too late .But reading your diary is encouraging me to go on.I think you will do it and do it with great scores .All the best !!Keep up the good work.
