well farnesyl transferase inhibitors can block the post traslational modifications in proteins. it is hence being used widely for multiple myeloma and other condition where there is a mutation in the ras gene .....

it has been used in breast cancer, and multiple myeloma,

but the above conditions, i dont think it is used in any one here, not that i know

i just read about them.farnesyl tranfesrare is a post translational alteration enzyme.
its inhibitors are used for

1. multiple myeloma
2. Acute myloid leukemia

Yes guys together we can answer these qs. Also you guys have been reading. In Oct. 26,2005 JAMA page 2016 it states that in Hutchinson Gilford syndrome [FTA's] have been givenand nuclear disfigurement has decreased to near normal levels.

So this is cutting edge info!! {But I can not guarrantee that it would be on the boards]

So according to this info the correct answer is f. Very good.

Just out of curiosity mysyamp what reference do you use??

i too didnt know, thanks that farnesyl inhibitors re also used in hutchinson gilford syndrome

wow

well for farnesyl ppi we just need to know

produced by the cholesterol metabolism

helps in prenylation of membranes, ie helping proteins attatch to the memb, and also dolichol pp to do the post translational modification ie n linked glycosylation step

thanks for the great info
