Hi,i'm just starting out as well.I searched a couple of forums and suggestions and could give you a general idea of what you might use.

first of all.EVERYONE has said first aid for the usmle is a must. :!: :!:
In the back they have book lists for each subject with grading of the books.

many people like kaplan notes and lectures but besides that. The books i ordered and just recieved are.

Anatomy--high yield(HY) embryology and HY gross anatomy, clinical anatomy made ridiculously simple(MRS) which i hear should be used with netter's atlas.and clinical neuroanatomy MRS with can be used with snell's neuroanat for pics and images. I also bought underground clinical vignettes(UCV) for anatomy.

Behavioral Science--Board review series(BRS)
some people recommended HY behav.sc. used with UCV behav. sc.

Biochem--lippincott's and HY cell and molecular biology

Microbiology--I hear the clinical micro MRS is enough.but make sure you see a lot of images and pics and slides and what not.

Immunology--How the immune system works by sompayrac was recommended by many people so i bought it.

Pathology--BRS and STARS pathology review by saunders some people use either one or the other but others use both.

Pharma--lippincott's,but some think it is outdated and recommend katzung and trevors exam and board review.

Physiology--BRS

if you have time I heard the Body systems review is good and has many questions and even though they aren't like the usmle questions they are good for clearing the concept and explanations of answers are supposed to be good.

This is by no way a set list of what you have to read, read what you feel comfortable reading. What is important is that you understand what you are reading and getting the information necessary.

But even those who read kaplan said they used BRS path and physio.

and most importantly do questions lots and lots of questions.

Good luck hope i might have helped a little like those who helped me.and there are many websites available with free questions,or atlases or books and tutorials.
Wish me luck as well!!!!i was supposed to start studying two days ago and still have not started.
