To Karusmle, 1. There is a Q : GRANFATHER HAS THE DISEASE ,familiar Hyperlipidemia, autosome dominant, AND THE SON DOES NOT HAVE been tested. WHAT IS THE CHANCE FOR THE GRANDDAUGTER TO GET THE DIEASE through the son ?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I chose 25%, because there is 50% chance the son will get the autosome dominant allele from GRANFATHER, and 50% chance pass to his daughter. 2. I chose C:Y. because there is biggest energy obstacle to overcome from Y to Z, +5.7. 3. I chose the answer which represents Adrenal gland. Sorry, I do not have this particular Q. But it is pretty obvious, a triangle-like tissue close to kidney. 4. I chose: defect in Ig isotype switch. Since the Ig the boy made can mediate complement activation, but can not facilitate opsonization. So his Ig is IgM , can not be switched into IgG. Hope this helps.

huntington's is autosoal dominant, and if the son has'nt got the diseased allele how can he transmit one to the granddaughter.... answer is 0 #2-agree with zzpearl answer, but this how it goes, the last two reactions, both favours production of Y ,although at one place it is a recatant and product at the other.

I agree with SSRPK if the Q described like this: "the son has'nt got the disease". But I clearly remember the Q stem is " the son has not been tested" . So he still have 50% got the allel.

well i guess it works like this in autosomal dominant half of the kids will have the genes tat meansif the gradfather had 2 kids one will hav ethe gene while the other will be phenotypically normal tat makes the father a 50%candidate for acquiring the disease phenotypically but as he has not been tested so not sure if he has it or not so this dereases the chances further for the grandson to have the disease making it down to 25%

If the son does not have the disease the risk for the grandaughter is 0; if the son had not been tested yet the risk for the son is 1/2 and for the grandaughter 1/4.
