Kaplan Qbank USMLE

I've been a silent reader of this forum nod for a long time and I really like how each one is supporting one another to over come all the obstacles for USMLE.

My story goes like this.... I started preparing for my Step 1 last year. I even enrolled in Kaplan to have a better grasp of it. However, I wasn't able to get it the exam at once because of some personal issues. Finally, after 4 months of self review, I took it last August. After 6 weeks of waitng for the result... I was not lucky enough to pass it for the first time.sad It was really devastating but I tried very hard to put myself together and I am now determined to take the exam again.

I started to prepare my review materials last week. I only have Kaplan books here. I first opened Biochemistry.. but I feltl I need to open Physiology first or Patho... or Anatomy... well... in short... I really don't know where to start. I really don't know how to study or review again. I thought I was doing the right things when I was reviewing for August. Do I need to change my study habits? What subject should I start reading? Do you think I'll can do it if I'll get the Step1 again this Feb 2006? Please help me..... I am really determined but I don't know how to start all over again. shaking head

From my side, I would suggest that, start from that subject, which you hate the most, or it has low score in your usmle transcript. This is the better idea. The next important thing is, which I tried by my self, is, to read every day atleast 1 hr and 30 min pathology, even you are good at it. Try to master Pathology in such a way that, you would be able to do every chapter in 1 hr. I did like 1 hr for new chapter and 30 minutes to recall the chapter which I did last day.

Good advice Shakeels.

thanks everyone....

shakeels... is kaplan patho enough. I used that the first time i took my step 1. What would you suggest for patho? and bochem and physio?

Yes, its enough. First time, Ididn't like that, but I memorize every line of it, and I kept revise from KAPLAN PATHOLOGY. If you are far enough from your exam like 2 to 3 months, then I would suggest you to do it from GOLJAN 100 pgs notes with his AUDIOS. Its better, and GOOD LUCK for your prep.

for biochem and physio KAPLAN is enough. Don't go any where else for these subjects.

shakeels, where can I get the GOLJAN 100 pgs notes with audios? I am planning to get it this feb or april. So do you mean Kaplan Patho and Goljan?

Do you think I should start doing Qbank? Qbook while reviewing all the subjects since this would be my second review? What do you think?

thanks again so much.

Go for GOLJAN, you can find his notes here. Their is one member name muadt, search for him, one of his posts has 100 pages GOLJAN notes, and for audios, its now very easy to get it from e bay.

Q bank and q book are the good sources of questions, but if you are already done with them, then its use less, bcz if you do them again, and you already know the answer, you will do good, and that doesn't mean any thing.

q bank online is good, if you didn't do it in past.
