N.D.I is an inability of Vasopressin2(V2) receptors to respond to ADH in teh collecting ducts.

What thiazide does is, prevents reabsorption(in distal tubule) of 10% filtered Na and delivers this isotonic fluid to the collecting ducts, which is able to remove only <5% of Na arriving. Hence, initially, with the loss of Na there is an increase in urine flow....this causes a dec in plasma vol; compensatorily thr is an increase overall in reabs of Na and therefore water from teh proximal tubules.
