hi i got a schokingly low score 76/185 this is after i prepared for 8 months full time studying kaplan q bank score : 82% (all random blocks) kaplan q book 75% (avrage) USMLE CD 42/31/43 robbinns review (1100 q) did twice with explainations pretest pharmacology (500 pharma q... did them twice) readkaplan notes 4 times(pharmac and patho 5 times) FA thrice ( i gave max importance to this book in tha last 2 months) HY statistics HY cell and molecular bio i do not know where i went wrong... i found my exam similar to q bank quesions with a lot asked from FA... after the exam i had a sence of satisfaction and was expexting to get approx 35 right in each block... in the 1st three blocks i was exprcting even more. by doing the q bank randomly and noting my score i thought i could predict how well i did any block. i'm sending the score for a recheck altough i dont expect much... is it worth tryin? i feel depressed all the time... its been 3 days since the score report came... keep thinkin how hard i prepared... how i was expecting the best possible score... evrthin came crashing down... i know that noone wants to hear sad stories... but please if anyone had such an experience... or any advice on what i should do next... plz tell me should i go o n for step 2? or should i give up? is it possible to get residencies with such a score?

Congrats! You passed! Be glad that you passed despite all your efforts. Alot of people also exerted much effort like you but they did not pass. I also studied very hard like you but I still did not pass. I have to read everything again. Imagine that. You passed so you should be glad you can go onto the next step. Step 1 is a very difficult exam. You can make it up by doing well in Step 2. Good luck!

Congratulations in passing, take this as ablessing instead of a curse! Now just focus on Step2, from your S1 experience learn and move on! Do things differently now, like tackle your weak areas with enough time. I am sure you will achieve your goals if you stay focused!!

Hi, Congratulations on passing Step 1!!! From what I understand when people want a recheck their score usually stays the same but if it makes you feel better then go for it. But at least you passed and now you can crush Step 2. I read a Kaplan survey somewhere that step 2 is more important than step 1 for residency programs. Best of Luck with your studies!!!

hi sturge weber... i was anxious but thats okay... i mean it was normal... that much anxiety is okay. i had a good nights sleep, a nice breakfast. my first 3 blocks were okay... i felt i was on the right track. the 4th block was quite tough... it was no way near the standard of the first 3 blocks. in the next 3 blocks(5,6,and7th) i felt drained... i had fruit juices and a light lunch, but i admit i was tired... but i thought that would happen to everyone and just finished the exam... did not leave any question... i finished each block with at least 3 minutes to spare... in the last 3 blocks, in those last 3 minutes(i finished each block 3-4 minutes early) i just closed my eyes and tried to relax and conserve energy. the thing is i did all i could to keep my mind on the questions... but i guess the last blocks brought me down ... i'll never know how i scored in thise last 3 blocks... the difficulty level was not that of the 4th block... these were easierthan that... may be it was me who ran out of batteries

well friend, u re right, all get anxious in the exam, its bad that ur score came low... but i think, the best part is u dont have to study again, and u can go ahead, step 2 ... wow think u re haeding towards residency. and u can make up this time... and remember whatever god does is for ur best, and there uis hidden reason behind everything that happens in life... so take it as gods decision and just go ahead to perform ur next duty, god bless... all the best karyosome
