hi, guys, i just begin to prepare my step 2, and found confused that, kaplan notes have review books for internal medicine, surgery, ob/gyn, ped, and psychiatry, 5 subjects; however, the blueprints have more than 10 subjects, especially emergency medicine and preventive medicine, i checked the contents and introduction for these two review books on amazon and found that the EM book is more like for step3 whereas preventive M book more for step1? i am wondering how much these two subjects, EM and PM, show in step test and is it worth doing to prepare these topics by reading special books or these principles have been involved in internal medicine topics? thanx!

For IM, I would recommend you High Yeild. Its good. Blueprints is not good for IM. But I guess, if you are doing it from KAPLAN, its also very good, people do get above 90 from KAPLAN in usmle step 2ck.

blueprints series doesn't have 'Preventive Medicine'.

my opinion about other 'Blueprints':

'Obstetrics & Gynecology' - best one among 'blueprints'; highly recommended.

'Pediatrics' - excellent.

'Neurology' - very good, especially because neurology in Kaplan LN is poorly written and not enough.

'Psychiatry' - good, but may be not enough.

'Emergency Medicine' - so-so, too detailed for review.

'Medicine' - bad; not enough; don't recommend.
'High-Yield Medicine' is also too simplified and with errors in formulas - remember that IM is most heavily tested subject on the Step 2 CK.

'Surgery' - worst book among 'blueprints'; avoid.
