sad hi everyone. i'm a 3rd yr psych resident. i've never had such a terrible experience with an exam. i got 73 the first time and 72 the second time!! i'm totally discouraged.how could i possibly score worse the next time?!!!? the first time i did crush and Kap Qbank. 2nd time my fellow residents told me to focus on questions. so i didnt read and only did UW scoring around 50 %and Kap Qbank ( twice ) scoring around 65-70% ( second time i knew some of the answers just by repition so i don't know if that counts). i have to pass this time otherwise i may loose my position. as an img i need to have my license in california by the end of 3rd year (june 2006). my friend is sending me kaplan step 3 notes. what else should i do differently in the most time efficient way??? being in residency and studying is pretty tough--meaning i can only put in 2-3 hours on working days and i want to take it by feb end so i can apply for my license....! HELP HELP HELP! shaking head

i would dare to advise-do goljan lectures-all steps are testing pretty much the same concepts.i don't think you have any problems with patient management-to get to 3rd year of residency-you gotta be smart.the only problem that i hear from my friends-residents-is that during these clinical years they somewhat forget fundamental knowledge.so i'd do goljan for step 2.

good luck to you

Which state/program are you in? How is the work load? Can you free more time to study?

You should return and freshen up on the basics. Being in psychiatry for so much time has put you out of touch with primary medicine guidelines. Study Step 2 notes to get your edge back. Then do tons of questions.
