Took the exam 2 days ago. The exam itself was very reasonable. However, I think that I messed up during the exam. The questions were not very long, about half to 3/4 a page with few exception of some a page long and some few sentences. Still, I only had about 5 minutes left after each block and I just want to kick myself in the foot for not reading all the answers before marking my choice and moved on. I think that almost everything I missed would be due to carelessness. During the first block I was still fidgeting. The computer system broke down halfway through the second block. Had to take a 20 minutes recess. Gained some nerves during that time. The most difficult Q's on my exam were mainly on musculoskeletal system and neurology. These they just ask the Dx or the pathophysiology. Neurology is my best subject and I screwed up royally. Simple diseases were asked but the clinical vignette was, at least to me, unclear. For one Q I could think of five diagnosis and couldn't decide on one and there were 16 choices. Few Q's, unless there were couple years of clinical experience behind you, would be pretty difficult to answer. Kaplan book is relatively enough to get you through 80% of the exam. Since the scope of the exam is so broad the remaining 20% you'd probably heard from your attending or resident. The content is approximately 40%-Med, 20%-Ped, 15%-OB, 15%-Sx, 10%-Psych+Other. The organ system, however, was not distributed evenly. There were very few difficult ones, about 10-20 Q's total? The exam, in my opinion, was easier than Kaplan Q-book because the questions were longer = more diagnostic clues + more certain Dx... you just have to read faster. I think I have only myself to blame if I messed this exam up. I predicted most of the answers on first pass and picked the one I thought beforehand without reading all the answers available. Plenty of choice "A"s as the correct answer. Now I am regretting not reading every answers. Currently I am even wondering if the exam whether if the exam is adaptive and the reason for the questions being relatively simple is because I screwed up. Anybody knows whether it is adaptive or not? S**t s**t s**t! Anyway, I am going to start my neurology residency at my home country next year. Since I passed the Step 1 and Step 2CS already, if I pass this exam can the ECFMG certificate be kept for another four years? I tried googling it up on the site and couldn't find it. Good luck to you guys. Really mean it. Hope you get your most comfortable subject area on the exam.

If this exam is Adaptive, then I'm screwed big time. Woke up two days ago and finally figured out the problem that I didn't understand when I took the exam. Why didn't it ring a bell to me when I was taking the exam.... ; ;

I did the exam yesterday and mine was very difficult. More difficult than UW and than all the vignette I had done before. It was really frustrating.
