What is glucose sparing? Which hormones promote glucose-sparing?

  #2

GH spares glucose because GH leads to fatty acids catabolism so there is less need for glucose (energy provided from fatty acids).

Cortizol spares glucose because it decreases insulin-receptor sensitivity to insuline (like in type II diebetes mellitus).

Glucagon decreases glycolysis, increases gluconeogenesis ans glycogenolysis thus increasing glicaemia.
