two terms are confusing me . 1-back up drug 2- used over the counter My native language is not english so dont know the exact meaning of these term. please help me

back up drug is the second or alternative drug if the drug of choice or the first drug cannot be given or has heavy side effects.

Over the counter drug is the drug that is available with out a doctor prescription in USA.
